Why are there as many jewelers "that sell diamond jewelry" as there are McDonald’s?

i thought diamonds were suppose to be a rare gemstone

at least its this way in my city

Diamonds are not rare, that’s just marketing to make you feel like a diamond is special. On the other hand some of the diamonds jewelers sell are not real ones.
