The Best Place to sell gold jewelry online is Cash For Gold USA. They pay 3x’s more for gold. If you want to compare a few cash for gold sites, you could look at a cash for gold review site.

That empire gold buyers is the scammiest place online to sell gold. They have minimum quantity they’d buy and the pay out rates posted on their website is about 30-40% higher then they will pay you in real life.
There’re only a handful of trustworthy gold and jewelry buyers online really. Like the other guy said, they would pay you for gold value based on weight, not the actual jewelry. The other guy also was incorrect about pawn shops – ’cause pawn shops are exactly the say way, they will weigh your gold and give you $10-$12 per gram, regardless of the jewelry design value.
Look for a gold buyer who evaluates your jewelry taking into account design along with weight. They usuall resell jewelry at slightly higher price hence will always give you more money then just guys who melt gold into bricks.
I sold my designer jewelry I got from http://davidtishbi.com to online buyers once and they were very good in evaluating my rings, I got almost 60% of retail price I paid and then I saw them selling my rings on their website 10 or 15% more then what they gave me.
Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the website.

Most of these places are scams! Beware where you choose to sell is what I say. Find a reputable company that offers you a fair price, has a clean BBB record, makes you an offer you can refuse instead of just sending you a check that arrives too late for you to reject it and get your stuff back..AND read their terms and conditions where they can hide all the "small print"….that’s where the sneakiness comes in!
I recommend the ones I used – the Silver And Gold Exchange in NH. They were GREAT to do business with. here’s their site if you’d like to check them out. http://silverandgoldexchange.com

Cash for gold are the refiners who buy jewelry at scrap prices. And the prices they offer are only 10% of the original cost. This is because they will only consider the scrap value of gold and not the aesthetic value, craftsmanship etc. That is why it is advisable not to sell your jewelry items to them. And you must have got carried away by their ads. Not your fault. Mellisa is right. EBay and Craigslist can fetch you good offers. Only constraint in these options is the time. If you urgently and quickly need to sell your jewelry, avoid them. Instead, contact a jewelry business house. My boss Alicia uses Fabrikant Fine Diamonds Inc in New York City and recommends them to all her colleagues (she got top cash for her gold necklace from them). And few of my other co-workers have also used them and were not disappointed by their services. Try them.

Cash for gold places are always low ball on the pricing. They want the gold for scrap, to be melted down to pure gold. They won’t pay anything for an jewels or the art value of the jewelry. A pawn shop or consignment shop would be your best bet but first get an appraisal from a jewelers to get a solid idea of what it’s worth.

eBay or Craigslist…eBay is a lot better though

sell it on e-bay for close to the price you payed otherwise they only pay you for the weight and you get screwed
